What you Need to Know About Us

Welcome! We’re glad you’re here! Black in Money Recovery™ is a virtual community where Black people heal financial trauma, build serenity, and find freedom.

The purpose of Black in Money Recovery™ is to support Black people in healing their relationship with money by addressing the deep impact of racism, discrimination, and economic injustice. Our program exists to:

  1. Create a safe space to explore how race and systemic harm have shaped our financial behaviors—and to begin healing together.

  2. Reach out to the Debtor, Underearner, and Compulsive Spender who still suffers, offering spiritual and community-based support through the Twelve Steps and a Higher Power of our understanding.

  3. Build a network of Black individuals committed to recovering from economic trauma, where we share our experience, strength, and hope in a nonjudgmental environment—so we can reclaim our abundance.

We host daily virtual meetings based on the principles of Underearners Anonymous (UA) and Debtors Anonymous (DA). Each meeting offers a safe, supportive environment for growth, sharing, and financial healing.

For the safety and privacy of our community, we do not post Zoom links or passwords online. To join a meeting, please send us a request by email to admin@blackinmoneyrecovery.com. We will provide you with the meeting information after verifying your request.

No. There are no fees to attend meetings. In keeping with the 7th Tradition, we are self-supporting through voluntary contributions. Financial donations and service are both welcome, but participation is never dependent on the ability to contribute.

Black in Money Recovery™ is specifically for Black people and individuals of the African diaspora. If you are unsure whether this space is intended for you, please reach out to us. We are happy to answer any questions and help clarify.

You are welcome here. No prior experience with UA or DA is needed. Many of us started this journey new to recovery. We encourage newcomers to listen, share when ready, and ask questions as they feel comfortable.

Service is an important part of recovery. If you would like to chair meetings, help with administrative support, or serve in other ways, let us know! All forms of service help strengthen our community and support ongoing healing.
